Reporter: Named Entity Web Service



The Reporter: Named Entity Web service provides detailed information about a specific UMBEL named entity. This user interface is a special kind of service. It uses all existing UMBEL Web services to create a detailed report about a UMBEL named entity and its relations to UMBEL subject concepts, external ontology classes, and selected external Web services from different kinds of data sources. Thus, there is no specific Web service associated with this report: it is a combination of multiple ones..

Information available in this detailed report

  • UMBEL Named Entity Name — the name of the named entity
  • Semset — the preferred label and its alternative labels used to refer to this named entity; generally, these are aliases
  • Description — the human readable description of the named entity (not available in all instances)
  • sameAs References — URI links to other external datasets that have references about the same named entity
  • Subject Concepts Mapped to this Named Entity — A listing of UMBEL subject concept links to which this named entity is mapped
  • Equivalent External Classes — the classes from external ontologies that refer to this same named entity. Please refer to the UMBEL Ontology Technical Documentation for a detailed explanation of how the equivalence between an external ontology class and an UMBEL named entity is done
  • Broader Subject Concepts — a list of the broader, or more general, UMBEL subject concepts related to the named entity's mapped concepts.  named entities related to this UMBEL named entity. For example, for the named entity "RinTinTin", might be mapped to the subject concept "Dog", which then has the broader concepts of "Pet" or "Mammal"
  • Broader External Classes — these are the classes from external ontologies that refer to a more general concept. Please refer to the UMBEL Ontology Technical Documentation for a detailed explanation of how the super-class relationship is defined between an external ontology class and an UMBEL named entity
  • Example external page (from Wikipedia) — using the named entity label as a search string, this link shows how an example external page can be obtained from an outside source (Wikipedia is the sample case)
To get the detailed report for a UMBEL named entity, you have to put the full URI of that named entity.
